When you make a digitale with Lasso, you'll be working in a specially designed editing suite using PC and Mac software.  There's a separate audio suite for recording your voice, and a home theare downstairs for viewing your work.

Meet Lasso's two directors and tutors, Pip Fowler (left) and Margie Wheeler.  In the videos below, they talk about the Lasso experience and what they bring to digital story making.

Help with your script

Both Pip and Margie have a strong writing background, so they know what makes a good story.

As well as being a director of Lasso, Pip teaches writing for the web and technical writing through the Open Polytechnic of New Zealand and Margie, a former radio journalist, is a communications adviser who runs her own consultancy.  Together they can help you research, write and edit your script from start to finish.

Pip says she uses her writing background to help people hone their script so it really works for them - and tells their story crisply and clearly.

For Margie, setting up Lasso was exciting because it was a chance to combine her passions for writing, stories, drama and movies with teaching the skills involved in making a digital story.

At home with Lasso

The Lasso premises are in a spacious family home in Thorndon just off the Wellington city centre.  Students and clients are welcome to come and see us, take a tour of the Lasso studios and learn more about digitales.  In the video clips below, Pip and Margie explain why being located in these premises is an important part of the way they do business.

Pip says that, because it is inside a family home rather than in a downtown office, the Lasso studio has a very personal, warm feeling.  People immediately feel comfortable - and that's often reflected in the way they tell their story.

When you first arrive for an introductory session or course you are invited into the lounge to view some digitales on the big screen and start thinking about your own story.  Later you move to the specially designed upstairs editing suite - providing a nice combination of home and comfort while you 'get down and dirty' with the technology.
