At Lasso you can learn how to make a digitale as part of a six-person course, or work with a tutor one-to-one to make a special, customised digitale.
Courses can be for individuals, groups or businesses. Prices for our courses are listed below. Customised stories are charged according to the time it takes to make the story - see Services to find out more. Not-for-profits may also be interested in sponsoring members or volunteers onto a Lasso group course.
Free introduction to digital story making
Come to our place and experience the world of digital storytelling. Be inspired by stories others have made and start thinking through ideas for your own story. While you enjoy a glass of wine or a cup of tea or coffee, we will explain the whole concept. Places are limited so phone or email us now or register your interest.
Introduction to digital storytelling 1 ( Six weekly sessions )
This course runs one night a week for six weeks. We take a maximum of six people per course. Each session is four hours long. Join in with our standard course, which runs every Tuesday night from 7pm, or if you have a group, arrange a time with us to suit you. See the course outline below. Cost: $600+GST, payable by the first session.

Introduction to digital storytelling 2 (Three-day intensive)
Take time out from your busy life to complete your digitale in one long weekend (Friday-Sunday) or over three successive Saturdays. The course outline is the same as for our Introductory Course 1. Sessions run from 8.30am to 6.30pm Friday to Sunday ending with a celebratory premiere.. This course is ideal for out-of-towners. Cost: $700+GST payable by the first session.

School and school holiday courses
Primary and secondary students and teachers, have fun practising the new multimedia skills required in the English curriculum. Teachers – learn the skills and how to pass them on to your students. Students – learn a whole new way of telling a story. Choose to learn individually or in groups during the term (by arrangement) or join one of our scheduled holiday courses.
Sponsorship
We work with not-for-profit organisations and businesses to help people find sponsorship to cover the cost of our courses, accommodation and travel. For example, our partnership with Carers New Zealand and the Carers' Alliance makes it possible for home-based carers, who could otherwise not afford it, to be sponsored onto a course and have their voices heard. This benefits the carers and also the sponsoring organisation, which can use their carers' stories as a powerful communication tool, one that cuts straight to the heart of what the organisation is about. Make another digitale at your own pace by registering in another of our courses. Refresh and extend your skills with help from tutors. Take 20% off the standard course price.
Individual tuition
We work with you one-to-one teaching you how to make your digitale from planning to premiere. Our hourly rate is $80 + GST. Average time to make a three to five minute digitale is 24 hours. Phone us now to discuss your needs.

The Lasso Café
Come and make use of our equipment and expertise between courses to make more digitales and consolidate your skills. To qualify you need to have completed one course with Lasso and be able to work independently, with only a little help from the café tutor. Phone or email us to make a booking. The hourly rate is $15 an hour and a reduced rate is available via the concession cards (see below). Café prices include tea, coffee and access to a tutor.
